Clay, an Arizona native, was born and raised in Tucson. In high school, he was very involved in athletics, letting all four years in volleyball, basketball, and football. Sports led him to the University of Arizona as a member of the men’s volleyball team before transferring to Grand Canyon University on an athletic scholarship. After suffering a lower back sports injury requiring surgical correction and rehabilitation, his interest in the medical field grew. He began his healthcare career over 12 years ago working as a paramedic in rural Scottsdale. He eventually obtained RN licensure from Mesa Community College, as well as a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Upper Iowa University, earning magna cum laude honors. After working in several different settings including emergency medicine, family medicine, and orthopedic surgery, his passion for functional medicine was evident. In an effort to maximize his ability to care for his patients, Clay furthered his education by obtaining a master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Olivet Nazarene University, graduating summa cum laude and top of his class. He is an active member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine and enthusiastically pursues his desire to help his patients maintain functional mobility and an active pain-free lifestyle.

“After suffering my injury, I realized how much of an impact my healthcare team played in helping me return to the activities I enjoy. I want to return that favor to my patients”

While not working, Clay enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children. His hobbies include fitness, watching sports, mountain biking, and is involved in his local church.
